ABOUT
The 2024 PQA Leadership Summit takes place November 7-8, 2024, at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel in Arlington, Va. The summit annually convenes thought leaders, key decision makers, and quality stakeholders to interactively and collaboratively develop strategies to improve medication use quality. The summit is an invitation-only event for PQA member organization leaders, directors and subject matter experts. This year’s summit is focused on pharmacy measure use in value-based arrangements and quality improvement programs.
PHARMACY MEASURE DEVELOPMENT & USE
Performance measures and quality improvement indicators can provide pharmacists the opportunity to demonstrate their contributions toward high-quality, patient-centered care. These measures and tools, however, depend on the ability to fairly and accurately document the quality of services provided by pharmacies.
To date, the pharmacy industry has suffered from a lack of valid, standardized, and consensus-based quality measures that can be used to objectively assess quality within the context of payer-pharmacy arrangements. To help meet that need, PQA engaged payers, community pharmacies, and technology vendors to use pharmacy measures and measure concepts in real-world settings to assess feasibility of data capture, reporting, and improvement towards evidence-based goals. These projects address hemoglobin A1C and blood pressure improvement and control and specialty pharmacy turnaround time.
This PQA Leadership Summit will showcase the results of those projects and the lessons learned that can be applied to future partnerships between pharmacies, payers and technology vendors. Through a series of interactive general session discussions, PQA staff and implementation project participants will detail their approach, experience and outcomes. These projects and their results may become the foundation of standardized, and consensus-based approaches to quality measurement and improvement.
